About Daily Utility Lab
Daily Utility Lab helps households understand electricity consumption, appliance running costs, kWh, utility bills and energy-saving choices without needing a spreadsheet, account or sales pitch.
Our purpose
Our primary work is home energy: calculators and guides that connect appliance wattage to kWh, electricity prices and real running costs. A smaller privacy collection helps people inspect and remove file metadata before sharing.
What is available now
11 tools are live. The energy collection covers appliance electricity use, AC running costs, electricity bills, time-of-use rates, household electrical loads, battery backup and solar payback. The supporting privacy collection includes the File Metadata Sanitizer and Screenshot Privacy Checker.
How we decide what to publish
We publish slowly on purpose. A tool is not available until it has a defined purpose, labelled inputs, clear assumptions, useful validation and working logic. We would rather maintain a focused set of strong energy and privacy tools than fill the site with unrelated pages.
Our working principles
- Practical first. The answer should arrive faster than setting up a spreadsheet.
- Clear reasoning. We explain the units, formulas, assumptions and limits behind each estimate.
- Private by default. Tool inputs stay in the browser and do not require an account. Optional analytics load only after consent.
- Honest scope. Estimates are not presented as professional, financial or electrical-safety advice.
- Accessible use. We aim for labelled controls, keyboard access, readable content and responsive layouts.
Independence and disclosures
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may load after consent. We do not publish paid editorial placements or sponsored content, and no commercial arrangement changes a calculator result. Read our Editorial policy for how tools and guides are checked.
